Mr Pete Salassi Scholarship Awards

In honour of the later Mr. Pete Salassi scholarships may be awarded annually in amounts no less than $500. Any AKA member in the Jr. or Boy and Girl divisions are eligible to apply. Applicants are required to write an essay describing their kneeboarding experiences, their goals for the future and any other information they feel may be of importance in the selection process. Applications must be submitted to any AKA Board member prior to the Annual Summer AKA Board Meeting, held in conjunction with the Kneeboaard National Championships.

A sportsmanship award is one of the greatest honors a member can receive.


Athletes of the Year

In 2008 the selection process became an earned title based on the total overall points from the four AKA Events, Slalom, Tricks, Freestyle, and Flipout. A competitors highest score throughout the season is used to determine overall points and selection of the Male and Femail Athlete of the Year. The “Athleletes of the Year” qualifying events are calendar year to calendar year in Class Q, C, and T events.

AKA National Records

Performance Records

All record tournaments must include a Slalom and/or Tricks event. Freestyle and Flipout are optional.

AKA/USA-WS shall recognize records for slalom and trick performances for each division and Flipout performances in
men and women divisions in Class T Tournaments.

In any division, a slalom or tricks score in a Class T tournament shall be considered for a record if it equals or exceeds
the official record set as of the prior year’s Nationals. Note: The same applies for a Flipout score in two divisions
identified as men and women.

Run-offs or ties are used solely for determining placement and a score achieved in the running off of a tie is not
considered for a record.

International Rider Cup Records
