STOP 3, AUGUST 17, 2024
In the world of sports and education, there’s a saying that sets the stage for success: "Practice like you've never won. Perform like you've never lost." This mindset is not only crucial for athletes but also plays a vital role in team dynamics and development. The Skionee Board Team embodies this mindset as we strive for excellence.
On August 17, at STOP 3, kneeboard athletes maintained their fire and drive throughout the day. From 8:00 to 11:15 am beginner, as well as advanced kneeboarders, practiced their skills in prep for the afternoon competitive performance. All kneeboarders performed their best attempts at executing 360 degrees turns in a 20 second pass. An additional pass of 20 seconds let them showcase their ability to do wake crossing. Advanced athletes were placed in a stand-alone category, but performed the same 2 passes of 360’s and wake crossings, with an extra 2 points given for executing a back roll. Age or skill level is not important to have fun on the water with Skionee Board Team. The Summer Get on the Water series included ages ranging from three to forty-four.
With fire and drive, 12-year-old Jordan Morris, a Lake Placid resident, won the beginner division. Ron Franklin, Lake Placid, won the advanced division with a score of 31. A’lisa Piper, Lake Placid, was the only advanced kneeboarder to earn the extra 2 points with a backroll. This bumped her into second place with a score of 30. See the competition pictures below.
Skionee Board Team consists of a blend of seasoned kneeboarders and fresh talent, all bound by a common goal: achieving greatness through teamwork and dedication. The variety of skills and experiences in the team allows for creative problem solving and innovative strategies leading to success.
A special thank you is extended to O’Brien Water Sports for sponsoring the O’Brien Sozo Kneeboard raffled off at STOP 3, as well as the Skier Down flags, O’Brien stickers & T-shirts.
